# Setting up Relay2Trade

Everything from getting the app running to your first watched signal, in order, with nothing assumed. On a VPS or on Linux you do it all in the Desk on this website, on any device; on a Windows PC you can also use the app's own window, which the pictures show. It takes about twenty minutes, and most of that is MetaTrader logging in. If you get stuck at any step, the app can send us the problem with its log attached.

## Before you start

Four things. If you have them, the setup below will not stop you anywhere.

### A place where the app stays on

While the app is not running, nothing is read and nothing is traded. A VPS keeps it running around the clock and is set up from the Desk in minutes. On your own Windows PC or Linux machine that means leaving it on; you can move to a VPS later.

### A MetaTrader 5 account

Live or demo, any broker. You need the account number, its password, and the exact server name your broker gave you. Start on a demo account — you can move to a live one whenever you like.

### A Telegram account

The same one you already read your signal groups with. The app signs in as you, where it runs, so it can see the same messages you see.

### A signal group you are already in

The app reads groups you have joined. It cannot join anything for you, and it never posts.

## The setup, step by step

Do these in order. Each one is finished before the next matters.

### Get the app running

Sign in on this website and open the Desk: "Where the app runs" shows the ways and walks you through the one you pick. On a VPS there is nothing to download: the Desk sets it up and the app signs in by itself. On Linux, the Desk gives you one command to paste in a terminal. On a Windows PC, open relay2trade.com/download, press Download for Windows and run the setup: it installs for your Windows user only, so there is no administrator prompt, and opens the app when it finishes.
- Windows may warn you about a file downloaded from the internet. Choose More info, then Run anyway — the setup is signed by Delvarom Systems S.R.L., which you can see in the warning itself.
- You choose whether to add a desktop icon and, on a first install, whether it starts with Windows and starts in the tray. Next, next, finish — the app opens and sits in the tray near the clock.
- On a VPS or on Linux the app has no window: you do every step below in the Desk, and the next step is already done, the app signed itself in.

### On Windows: sign in with your Relay2Trade account

The app opens relay2trade.com in your browser: confirm there and it signs itself in. Or type the same email and password as this website. Signing in is what activates your licence on that computer.
- No subscription yet? The app will say so and link you to your account page.
- If you have two-factor turned on, it asks for the code here too.

### Your profile gets its own MetaTrader

A profile is one MetaTrader account and everything around it. Each profile gets a MetaTrader 5 of its own, and the app makes it by itself: there is nothing to install or to pick. On Windows the app first installs a clean MetaTrader 5 from MetaQuotes for itself, once; Windows may ask you to allow MetaQuotes' installer.
- A profile you add later gets its own too: a separate copy of MetaTrader 5 in the app's folder, logged in to that profile's account. Two profiles never share one terminal.
- Other options, under the login form: "Another install…" (a MetaTrader 5 you installed yourself) or "No terminal" (the profile only watches).

### Connect your MetaTrader account

On the Connections page, in the Desk or in the app, enter the account number, its password and the server: start typing your broker's name and pick its server from the list. On Windows, if MetaTrader has never looked that server up, the app stops and shows the one step only you can do.
- When MetaTrader opens, choose File → Open an Account.
- Type your broker's name or the server name in the field at the top and click "Find your company". Wait until your broker appears, then click "Cancel" — do not fill in the form.
- That is it. The app installs the trading bridge in the background while you do it, and signs in once the server is known.

### Connect Telegram

On the Connections page, in the Desk or in the app, in the Telegram box, click "Log in with a QR code" (recommended). On your phone, open Telegram → Settings → Devices → Link Desktop Device and point the camera at the code. Or type the phone number of your Telegram account in the form under it, then the code Telegram sends you. If your account has a two-step password, the app asks for it after.
- This signs in where the app runs. You can end that session any time from Telegram's "Devices" screen.
- Each profile signs in separately, so two profiles can read two different Telegram accounts.

### Add your first signal group

Add a listener: on the Connections page in the Desk, or on the Listeners page in the app. Pick the group from the list — it shows the groups and channels your Telegram account is already in.
- Watch — the app reads and shows you what it understood, and places nothing. Start here.
- Manual — every signal waits for you to approve it before it reaches your broker.
- Auto — signals are placed on their own, inside your limits. The app asks you to confirm you understand before it lets you choose this.

### Set your limits before you go automatic

Settings is where you decide how much a signal is allowed to cost you. These apply to every signal the app places. Not sure what to pick? Set up with a few questions: the app asks how much you want to risk and fills the page in for you. Restore default settings puts everything back.
- How big each signal is — a percentage of your account or an amount of money at risk for the whole signal, or a fixed number of lots.
- The most lots one signal may use, and how many trades may be open at once.
- A daily loss limit, as a share of the account or an amount, that stops new trades for the rest of the day — and an equity floor that stops them while the account is below it.
- What happens when a signal has several take-profits: one trade per target, or one trade that closes a share at each.
- Whether a signal without a stop-loss is refused — and, on each listener, how far the price may move from the entry before the signal is skipped.

### Watch it for a few days

Leave the listener in watch mode and read what the app made of each message. When the readings match what you would have done yourself, move it to manual, then to auto. To judge a group faster, dry-run it from the listener: the app replays its latest messages (how many depends on your plan) and shows what would have happened, placing nothing.

## Using it day to day

Once it is running there are four places you will actually look. Each is in the app's window, and in the Desk on any device.

### The dashboard

Whether MetaTrader and Telegram are connected, what has happened today, and every signal with what the app decided and why.

### The bell

Trades opened, trades closed with their result, signals skipped and the reason, and MetaTrader dropping out. Every profile reports here, including the ones you are not looking at.

### Stop trading

The "Trading" switch at the top of the Connections page (also first in Settings). Switched off, the profile opens no new trades and its MetaTrader and Telegram disconnect; whatever is already open stays at your broker with its stops and targets.

### The tray

On Windows, closing the window does not close the app: it keeps trading. Double-click the desktop shortcut to bring the window back, or use the icon near the clock. On a VPS or on Linux there is no window to close.

## If something goes wrong

The four things people hit most, and what each one actually means.

Almost always the server. MetaTrader can only reach a server it has looked up: open it, choose File → Open an Account, type your broker's name or the server name exactly as your broker wrote it, click "Find your company", wait until your broker appears, then click "Cancel". Server names are case-sensitive.
Check three things, in this order: the listener is set to auto rather than watch or manual, trading is on for that profile, and none of your limits has already been reached today. The dashboard names the rule that stopped a signal, next to the signal itself. Changed many settings and signals stopped? Restore default settings on the Settings page.
On Windows it is in the tray near the clock, still trading: double-click the desktop shortcut and the window comes back. On a VPS or on Linux it has no window: open the Desk.
Open Support, in the app's sidebar or in the Desk, and write what happened. The last part of the app log goes with your message, so we see the failure itself rather than a description of it. There is a Telegram link there too.
