# Promotions, coupons and inviting friends

The Promotions screen in the Desk and in the app: redeeming a coupon code, what a code gives and what the messages mean, the promotions running now, the discounts waiting for you, the offers that are always on, the "Post about us" contest, and inviting friends: your link and code, what your friend gets, what you earn, and the invite ladder.

## Where to find them

- **In the Desk** (https://relay2trade.com/control): Account → "Promotions" (the tile reads "Codes and offers") and Account → "Invite friends" (the tile counts your friends).
- **In the app on Windows:** "Promotions" and "Invite friends" in the left menu, under "You". "Promotions" is also in the menu of the level chip at the top.
- **On the website:** relay2trade.com/promotions shows what is running to anyone, signed in or not. A visitor with a code creates an account with it there ("Create an account with this code").

## Redeeming a coupon

Coupon codes come from us, from promotions and from posts. A code gives items: cards, Sparks, looks, badges, plan time, or a discount that comes off a subscription payment by itself.

1. Open Account → "Promotions".
2. Under "Redeem a coupon", type the code (for example WEEKEND7). Spaces and small or capital letters make no difference.
3. Press "Redeem".
4. A card opens at the top: "Coupon redeemed: …", "Code …. Here is what landed on your account:", with each item. Cards go to your Inventory; when they have a last day it says "Use by …: a card left unused expires." "Open your inventory" takes you there.

Your inbox also gets "Coupon redeemed: …". Each code works once per account.

**Some codes ask first.** A code that gives plan time below the plan you already pay for shows a warning with what it means. Press "Redeem anyway" to take it, or "Not now" to leave it.

**When a code is refused**, the reason shows under the field:

- "This coupon does not exist or is no longer active.": the code is mistyped, or the promotion was switched off.
- "This coupon works from …": it opens on that day. Come back then.
- "This coupon has expired.": its last day has passed.
- "This coupon has been used up.": every place was taken.
- "You already redeemed this coupon.": it is already on your account.

**A code typed at sign-up** ("Coupon code (optional)") is redeemed once you confirm your email. A message then says "Coupon … redeemed: …", or "Coupon … could not be redeemed: …" with the reason.

## "Your coupons"

Under the field, "Your coupons" lists every code you redeemed ("None yet", "1 redeemed", "3 redeemed"), each with its name, what it gave and when, marked "at sign-up" or "from your account". "No coupon yet." while there is none.

## "Waiting for you"

When a discount waits on your account for your next subscription payment, the Promotions screen shows "Waiting for you" with each discount, its last day ("Use it by …") where it has one, and "Pick a plan". The discounts come off by themselves at checkout: there is nothing to type. "They add up: … off your first monthly subscription payment." shows when the welcome offer and a friend's invite both apply. ## "Running now"

Each promotion running now has a card with:

- its title and, when it has one, its code with a copy button;
- what it is, and "Gives": the rewards, each with its own tip;
- "From …", "Until …", and how many places are left ("… of … left", or "All … places are taken.");
- "Redeem", which takes it at once.

A promotion you already have says "You have this one." and moves under "Already yours", folded below the others. Its card then says what became of it: "It was applied at once.", "It was sent to your inventory.", "Part of it was applied at once, the rest was sent to your inventory.", or "It is still there, unused: it gives nothing until you use it."

## "Always on"

These run all the time:

- **Your first Sparks package costs less.** "Your first Sparks package costs 10% less, whichever size you pick. It comes off at checkout by itself, once." "See the packages" opens them in the Shop. See https://relay2trade.com/help/levels-seasons-shop.md.
- **"Invite friends, earn Sparks"**, which opens "Invite friends" (below).
- **"Write a review"**, for accounts that paid for a licence, with what a published review earns. See https://relay2trade.com/help/reviews.md.
- **"Post about us, win a month of Pro"**: "Make a video or a post about Relay2Trade on any social network, with #relay2trade and your account code in it. The post with the most views wins a month of Pro. One more winner, drawn at random from all the other posts, gets a month of Advanced." Your "Account code" is on the card, with a copy button.

## Inviting friends

Open Account → "Invite friends". "Share your link. Anyone who registers through it is counted as yours, and the rewards for it are on their way."

**Your link and your code**

- "Your invite link", with "Copy link". On a phone, "Share" opens the phone's share menu with a short message and the link.
- "Your code": "It can also be typed at registration." It is your account code, which never changes.

**How a friend joins through you**

1. Your friend opens your link and creates an account. The link is remembered in their browser for 30 days, so they can sign up later from the same browser.
2. Or they type your code in "Invite code (optional)" when they create the account.

The code can only be given at registration: it cannot be added to an account afterwards. An unknown code is refused with "We do not know this invite code. Check it with the person who sent it, or leave the field empty."

**What your friend gets.** The box "What your friend gets" says it: "Your friend gets 10% off their first monthly subscription payment, on any monthly plan, if they subscribe within 30 days of signing up." It adds up with the 10% welcome offer, so their first monthly payment costs 20% less. It comes off by itself.

**What you get.** Only friends who subscribe count: free days, trial days and access passes do not.

- Each friend who subscribes earns you 500 XP.
- Every third one also brings 200 Sparks.
- From your first subscribed friend on, you receive a share of the Sparks your friends buy: 1% to begin with, rising to 2% at 10 friends, 3% at 25, 4% at 50 and 5% from 100.
- At 10 subscribed friends you get one more profile, for good.
- The "Connector" badge and its ranks come along the way.

The rung-by-rung list is in https://relay2trade.com/help/levels-seasons-shop.md. If a friend's first payment is refunded, that friend no longer counts.

**What the screen shows**

- "You joined through …'s invite.", when someone invited you.
- Four figures: "Joined", "Subscribed", "Your share" and "Sparks earned".
- "The invite ladder", with "You take …% of the Sparks your friends buy." (or "Your first subscribed friend starts your share of the Sparks they buy."), a bar to "Next … Sparks at … subscribed friends", and each rung marked "Reached" or "Next", with what it pays.
- "Your friends": each friend with the day they joined, marked "registered" or "subscribed". "Nobody has joined through your link yet. Your friends show here as they sign up, and again when they subscribe."

Invites count only for other people: the Terms allow one account per person. Sparks, cards and looks cannot be given or moved to another account; your invite link is the way to share something with a friend.

## In the app

The app's "Promotions" page has the same "Redeem a coupon", your discounts and the promotions running now. Its "Invite friends" page shows your link with "Copy link", your code, your friends and the invite ladder. The app's Account page also says "An offer is waiting for you." with "See them in Promotions" when one is.

## If something goes wrong

- **"This coupon does not exist or is no longer active."** Check the code letter by letter (0 and O, 1 and I). If it is right, the promotion has ended.
- **The coupon gave nothing you can see.** Cards wait in your Inventory until you use them. Open Inventory, or press "Open your inventory" on the card that opened.
- **A card from a coupon disappeared.** It had a "Use by" day and was not used before it. See https://relay2trade.com/help/items-and-inventory.md.
- **The discount did not come off.** A discount comes off the first payment of a monthly subscription; yearly plans take none. A friend's discount needs the subscription within 30 days of signing up. See https://relay2trade.com/help/plans-licence-billing.md.
- **Your friend is not in "Your friends".** They signed up without your link and without your code, or from another browser more than 30 days after opening the link. The code cannot be added afterwards.
- **Your friend is listed but does not count.** They are "registered", not yet "subscribed". Free days and access passes do not count; a subscription does.
- **No "Share" button.** The browser has no share menu (most computers). Use "Copy link" and paste it where you like.
