Signing in
Every way to sign in to Relay2Trade: the Desk, on a computer or a phone, and the app on Windows, on Linux and on a VPS; what "Confirm it is you" asks; how to sign out; and what happens when an app is signed out.
One account everywhere
Your Relay2Trade account is the same in the Desk and in the app on your computer or VPS. You sign in with your email and password, or with Google if your account has Google connected.
- Your email address has to be confirmed first. Until it is, the app answers "Confirm your email address first: open the link we sent you." Press "Confirm email" in the email "Welcome: confirm your email", then "Confirm my email" on the page that opens. A link is good for 30 minutes; on the "Check your inbox" page, "Resend the email" sends a fresh one.
- A password needs at least 12 characters. Leave your name, your email and "Relay2Trade" out of it, and choose one that does not appear in known data breaches. "A few unrelated words work well."
- One computer runs the app at a time. Signing the app in on a second computer signs it out on the first. See Computers and moving the app.
The Desk
The Desk is at https://relay2trade.com/control. Signed out, it opens its own "Sign in" page.
- Type your "Email" and press "Continue".
- Type your "Password" and press "Sign in". If the page says "This account signs in with Google.", use "Continue with Google" instead.
- With two-factor on, the page asks: "Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, or one of your recovery codes." Type it in "Code" and press "Verify".
Other buttons on that page: "Use another email", "Forgot your password?" and "No account yet? Create one".
A browser stays signed in until you sign out there, or until you sign it out from Desk → Account → Security → "Active sessions".
Signing in with Google
- "Continue with Google" takes you to Google and back. Only an address Google has confirmed can be used.
- With no Relay2Trade account for that address yet, an "Almost done" page opens: check your name, accept the terms and press "Open my account". The email counts as confirmed.
- If you already have an account with that address, Google is connected to it and you get the email "Google sign-in was connected to your account". If your email was already confirmed, your password keeps working.
- The two-factor code is asked when you sign in with your password. Signing in with Google goes through Google.
Forgotten password
- Press "Forgot your password?", type your email and press "Send reset link".
- Open "Reset your password" in the email within 60 minutes and press "Choose a new password".
- Type the "New password" twice and press "Change password".
Changing your password signs the desktop app out: "it stops reading signals until you sign in again on the computer where it runs." Other browsers stay signed in until their current session ends; "Sign out all other devices" under "Active sessions" signs them out at once. A new password cannot be your current one or one of your last five.
The app on Windows
The app's account panel ("Relay2Trade account") offers three ways in. Each one activates your licence on that computer.
Sign in through the website
- Press "Sign in through the website". The app says: "We opened relay2trade.com in your browser. Confirm the sign-in there (with your password, Google or two-factor); this window continues by itself."
- In the browser, sign in if you are not signed in yet, on the same "Sign in" page as the Desk's (above). The page "Sign in to the app" shows the "Account" and the "Computer" asking.
- Press "Continue to the app". The page says "Done. Go back to the app: it is signed in. You can close this tab."
Continue only if you just started signing in from the app on that computer. "Not the right account?" → "Sign out and use another" switches accounts. If the browser did not open, press "Open the page again". A link works once: an old one says "This sign-in link has expired or was already used. Start again from the app."
This is the way in for an account that signs in with Google. Typing such an account's email into the app's form answers that it signs in with Google and points you to "Sign in through the website".
Email and password in the app
Type "Email" and "Password" and press "Log in". With two-factor on, the app says "Two-factor is on for this account — enter the code from your authenticator app." Type it in "6-digit code (or a recovery code)" and press "Log in" again.
A one-time code from the Desk
This signs the app in with a code in place of your password, handy on a Windows VPS you reach by Remote Desktop.
- In the Desk, open Account → "Where the app runs". On the card "On your Windows computer" press "Installed it? Sign it in with a code" (or, on the card "On a VPS or a Linux computer you already have", press "Windows: sign in with a code"). The same screen opens from Account → Security → "Computers running the app" → "Run it on a VPS".
- Confirm it is you, then press "Make a code". The code is 12 letters and digits, like ABCD-1234-EFGH. It works once, for 10 minutes; "Give me more time" restarts the wait after a few minutes. Closing the page hides the code for good: make another when you need it.
- In the app, choose "Sign in with a code from the Desk", type it in "Code from the Desk" and press "Use the code".
- The app says "This computer asked to sign in. Accept it in the Desk: you are asked there, and it is listed under Security, Computers. This window continues by itself."
- The Desk shows "A computer asks to sign in" with the "Computer", "System", "App version", "Calling from", "Asked at" and "Waits until". Press "Accept". The same request is in the inbox and on the list of computers.
If you did not make a code just now, or the computer is not yours, press "Decline".
When your app already runs on the VPS created for you
If your app runs on "VPS: Quick install", signing in on a Windows computer asks first: "Your app already runs on your VPS, around the clock: you do not need it on this computer..." Choose "Move it to this computer" (trading from the VPS stops, and the VPS stays signed out until you move the app back from the Desk) or "Leave it there, open the Desk". The browser page offers the same choice: "Move the app to this computer" or "Leave it on the VPS and open the Desk".
The app on Linux or on a VPS
On Linux, and on a VPS made from the Desk, the app has no window: you sign it in from the Desk, and you then do everything else (MetaTrader, Telegram, listeners) in the Desk too.
- "VPS: Quick install" (a VPS created for you with the app already on it): press "Create it now". "It shows up here by itself in under a minute, with the app signed in."
- A VPS in your own DigitalOcean account, made from the Desk: the app on it signs itself in when its set-up ends, in about six minutes.
- A Linux VPS or computer of your own: Account → "Where the app runs" → "On a VPS or a Linux computer you already have" → "Linux: get the command". Confirm it is you and press "Show the command". Paste it in a terminal on that machine, as root or as a user with sudo. "It installs everything there and signs the app in by itself." The command works once; the Desk shows each step and the machine joins by itself.
- A Windows VPS: install the app as on a PC and sign it in with a one-time code (above).
On a computer with no screen, the code screen also shows the command to type with the code. The app then says the computer "asked to sign in. Accept it in the Desk", and "When you have accepted it, press Enter."

On your phone
On a phone you sign in to the Desk in its browser, on the same "Sign in" page. Installed on the home screen, the Desk opens like an app. See The Desk and the Desk on your phone.
"Confirm it is you"
Before a step that touches your account's security or the app itself, the Desk asks you to confirm it is you. The window says what the step does.
- Usually: your password, plus the code from your authenticator app when two-factor is on.
- If your account has Google connected, Google instead: "Your account signs in with Google, so confirm it is you with Google." Press "Confirm with Google". Afterwards the form says "Confirmed with Google", and you have 10 minutes to finish.
It is asked before: making a one-time code, showing the Linux command, "Sign it back in", "Restart the app", "Sign it out", "Remove" for a computer, "Stop it", "Remove it" and "Run it on the VPS" for the VPS created for you, "Turn off" for two-factor, "Regenerate recovery codes", "Disconnect" for Google, and deleting your account. See Account security.
Signing out
- The Desk on this device: Account → "Sign out". It asks "Sign out of the Desk on this device? Its notifications stop here too."
- Other browsers: Account → Security → "Active sessions" → "Sign out" on one, or "Sign out all other devices".
- The app on Windows: its account panel → "Log out". It asks "Log out? Every listener stops, and this profile signs out of Telegram; other profiles keep their Telegram sessions."
- The app on any computer, from the Desk: Account → Security → "Computers running the app" → "Sign it out". "It stops there until it is signed back in; open trades stay in MetaTrader."
When an app is signed out
An app is signed out when your password is reset, when the app signs in on another computer, when "This wasn't me" is used, or when you sign it out from the Desk or in the app.
- It stops reading signals. Open positions stay at your broker with their stop-loss and take-profit, but nothing new is placed and nothing is managed.
- After a password reset or a sign-in on another computer, you get the email "Your desktop app was signed out", with "Sign it back in from the Desk".
- In the Desk, under Security → "Computers running the app", that computer reads "signed out" with the reason, for example "Signed out on …, when the password was reset." or "Signed out on …, when the app signed in on another computer."
- On Windows the app shows its sign-in again, with the hint "Signed out by a password reset or by signing in on another computer? You can also sign this computer back in from the website, from any device, without typing anything here."
Signing it back in from the Desk
- Open Account → Security → "Computers running the app".
- On the signed-out computer, press "Sign it back in" and confirm it is you.
- The app on that computer must be open and online. It signs itself in within a minute. The approval waits 60 minutes; "Take the approval back" cancels it.
If the computer running the app now is a different one, it is signed out at that moment: one computer runs the app at a time. For "VPS: Quick install" the button is "Run it on the VPS".
If something goes wrong
- "Invalid credentials." The email or password is wrong. Use "Forgot your password?" if needed.
- "Too many attempts — try again later." After 10 wrong passwords or codes, sign-in in the app waits 15 minutes.
- "That code is not valid. Check your authenticator and try again." or "Invalid code." Set your phone's clock to automatic. Each code works once: wait for the next one, or use a recovery code.
- "This account signs in with Google." Use "Continue with Google", or "Sign in through the website" in the app. To have a password as well, use "Set a password" under Account → Security → "Sign-in methods".
- "This code does not work: it was mistyped, used already, or made more than 10 minutes ago." Make a new code in the Desk and use it right away.
- "This computer was not accepted: it was declined in the Desk, or nobody answered in time." Make a new code and accept the request in the Desk.
- A computer asks to sign in and you made no code. Press "Decline", change your password and sign out the other devices under "Active sessions".
- "The approval ran out before the app on that computer picked it up." Make sure the app is open there and the computer is online, then press "Sign it back in" again. On a Windows VPS the app starts only once a Windows user is signed in.
- "Your sign-in expired. Please start again." The sign-in page waited too long. Start again from the email step.
- "This link no longer works." A confirmation link is good for 30 minutes. Log in and a new one is sent.
- The app on your VPS was signed out and you cannot reach the VPS. Sign it back in from the Desk, as described above.
