Subscriptions and time on your plan
How a Relay2Trade subscription runs from the first payment to its end: renewals, the demo day, free days and access passes and the order they run in, changing plan, the VPS on your plan, failed payments, cancelling and coming back, with worked examples.
For the plans, their prices and limits, refunds, the kinds of discount and coupon codes, see Plans, licence and billing.
Where you see it
Everything here is in the Desk (https://relay2trade.com/control), under Account → "Plan & billing":
- "Your plan": your plan's name, "Cancelled" when you have cancelled, and a bar of what runs on your account, stretch by stretch. Point at a stretch, or tap it, to see what it is, its dates, its days and whether it is "Running now" or "done". A "Today" mark shows where you are.
- The flag at the end of the bar: "Next payment · date · plan €amount" while your plan renews, "Access ends date" when it does not, or "Payment failed · next try date".
- Buttons: "Card & invoices" (your card, invoices and billing details on Stripe's secure page, which brings you back), "Renew now" while you are on free time, and "Cancel subscription" or "Resume subscription".
- "VPS": the VPS on your plan, with its switch "Add it to my plan".
- "What your plan allows": each limit worked out from its parts, and your "XP multiplier".
- "Plans": the plan cards with "Monthly" and "Yearly", the discounts and free days waiting for your next payment, and "Licence history".
The stretches of the bar, each explained under "The kinds of time" below: "Basic, paid" (blue), "+3 free days on your Basic plan" (amber), "Pro access, 10 days" (teal), "Basic comp time after your plan, 5 days" (teal, striped: access you had when your plan started, running after the paid period), "Your demo day, Basic access" (pink) and "Basic, payment failed" (red, striped: access paused until the renewal is paid).
From the first payment to the renewal
- Open Account → "Plan & billing", choose "Monthly" or "Yearly", then "Choose …" on a plan.
- When the VPS is offered to your account, the card asks "Where should the app run?": "VPS: Quick install" (the plan with a VPS created for you) or "Your own device/VPS" (the plan alone), each with its "Total". Press "Choose this".
- Pay by card on Stripe's secure page.
Your licence starts right after payment, and the app picks up the new limits by itself. You get "Your licence is active" by email, and the invoice in a separate email.
- The period is 7 days on the 7-day plan, a calendar month on a monthly plan (paid on 10 October, it renews on 10 November) and a year on a yearly plan.
- The renewal is automatic, on the date the flag shows, for the amount it shows: the plan, plus the VPS when your plan has it, in one payment. After each one you get "Your plan renewed" and the invoice. Nothing is announced ahead of a renewal.
- Free days and access passes on your plan move the renewal date later. The flag always shows the date with them counted in.
The kinds of time
The paid period
What your subscription has paid for. It always runs first: anything free that you already have, or receive while it runs, waits behind it.
The demo day
A day of the Basic plan with a VPS included, given when you confirm your email (see Plans, licence and billing). It starts when your app is first signed in, or at "Create it now" for the VPS, or when you start it from the Inventory. It starts by itself only while you have no other access: with a plan running it waits in the Inventory. Subscribing while it runs loses none of it: what is left moves after your paid period.
Free days ("+N days")
Free days make your subscription longer at no charge. They come from levels, the season track, the shop, quests, promotions, coupons and our support team. Many arrive as cards in your Inventory and start when you press "Use now"; level rewards and days from support are added at once.
- With a subscription that renews: the days are added after your paid period and after any free time already there. Your next payment moves later by the same days, nothing is charged, and you get the email "N free days added". Stripe's page lists a 0.00 € entry: its record of the moved date, not a payment.
- They keep the plan you had when they were added. Days added on Basic stay Basic after a move up to Pro, and days added on Pro stay Pro after a move down. On the 7-day plan they are Basic days.
- Without a subscription: the days wait on your account with no end date (up to 366 days in all), and are added to the plan you pick, right after its first period. You get the email "N free days are waiting for you".
- On a cancelled subscription: the days still make it longer, and it still ends, later.
- Free days in the shop are priced from your own plan and need a running subscription ("Needs a subscription").
Access passes and time from support
An access pass gives access at its plan (Basic, Advanced or Pro) for its days, with no subscription needed. On the bar and in emails it is called "access" or "comp time". Passes come from the season track and prizes, the shop, coupons, promotions and support.
- Without a subscription: a pass starts when you use it, or after the passes already queued. Passes run one after another and keep their own plan: a Basic pass and then a Pro pass give Basic, then Pro.
- With a subscription that renews: the pass runs after your paid period and your free days, at its own plan, and moves your renewal later by its days.
- A pass below your plan asks first: "Your plan is Pro. These 10 days run at Basic after your paid period ends, from …: Pro features pause during them, then your Pro plan renews. Continue?"
- On a cancelled subscription: the pass waits for your plan to end and runs after it. "Resume subscription" moves it onto the plan as days at its own plan, before the renewal.
- Subscribing while a pass runs loses none of it: what is left is added right after the first period of the plan you pick.
Free days or a pass that support adds follow the same rules, and "Licence history" lists them.
The order time runs in
- The paid period, always first.
- On a subscription that renews: the free days and passes put on it, in the order they were added, each at its own plan. At a first checkout the order is the paid period, then the free days that were waiting, then what was left of a pass or the demo day.
- The renewal, at the plan you pay for.
- Without a subscription, or after a cancelled one: passes one after another.
You can change the order of what is still waiting: open the Inventory tab, find it under "Waiting to run", and use "Run earlier" or "Run later". A stretch that already runs keeps its place, and everything still ends on the same date.
Worked examples: free time
First payment with free time waiting. On 11 October at 09:00 your app signs in and your demo day starts. At 15:00, with 18 hours of it left and 3 free days waiting from a card, you pay for Basic monthly. Basic is paid until 11 November 15:00, the 3 free days run until 14 November 15:00, the demo day's 18 hours until 15 November 09:00, and the next payment is on 15 November.
Free days on a running plan. Your Basic month is paid until 15 November. On 20 October you reach level 10 and get 3 free days: the next payment moves to 18 November.
A pass on a running plan. On 25 October you also use a 10-day Pro access pass. The bar shows "Basic, paid" until 15 November, "+3 free days on your Basic plan" until 18 November, Pro until 28 November, and "Next payment · 28 November", for Basic.
Cancelled, then a pass. Your Basic plan is cancelled and paid until 1 November. A 30-day Basic pass used on 20 October waits and runs from 1 November to 1 December, your access ends on 1 December, and the reminder comes on 28 November. Resuming before 1 November moves those 30 days onto the plan instead, and it renews on 1 December.
Changing plan
Every change is made under Account → "Plan & billing" → "Plans", where "Monthly" and "Yearly" show the plans of each kind and your plan's card says "Your plan".
- Moving up is a plan of a higher level (7 days → Basic → Advanced → Pro), monthly or yearly, or the same plan paid for longer (Basic monthly → Basic yearly). Its button is "Switch now".
- Moving down is everything else: a lower plan, or yearly to monthly on the same plan. Its button is "Switch at period end".
Moving up
- Press "Switch now" on the plan.
- Confirm: "Switch to Pro now? What is left of this period counts towards it, and the difference is charged to your card today."
- "You are on Pro now." The new limits apply at once and the app picks them up within seconds.
- Between two monthly plans you pay the difference for the days left, and the renewal date stays the same.
- Monthly to yearly changes how often you pay: you pay the year today, less the unused part of your month, and the year runs from the day of the change.
- From the 7-day plan, or from a yearly plan to a higher monthly one (Basic yearly → Pro monthly), the change also applies at once and the unused part of your current period counts towards it.
- When the card does not go through, the Desk either shows "Pay on Stripe's page" (you move up the moment it is paid there; left unpaid for about a day, nothing changes and nothing is charged) or says "Your card was declined, so the plan was not changed. Update the card under Card & invoices and try again."
Moving up during free days
- Paid days still ahead, free time behind them: only the difference in daily price for the paid days still ahead is charged today. The free days and passes behind them stay free, each at its own plan, and the renewal date does not move. The renewal then charges the new plan.
- Inside your free time, no paid day ahead: the new plan's first period is charged today and starts now, and what is left of your free time moves after it. The question names the amount first.
Moving down
- Press "Switch at period end" on the plan.
- Plan & billing shows "Switching to Basic on …". Your current plan and its limits run until that date, your next renewal (after any free days on the plan; from yearly to monthly, the end of your paid year).
- On that date your subscription renews on the new plan, at its price.
- "Keep Pro" on your current plan's card takes the change back: "The change is off; your plan stays."
- When the new plan has smaller limits, the app stops the newest profiles and listeners above the new numbers and tells you. Nothing is deleted.
Plan changes and the rest
- Any plan change takes back a cancel: your subscription renews again and you get "Your subscription will renew".
- Cancelling drops a move down that was waiting.
- The VPS follows a change of period: moving from monthly to yearly, its price becomes the yearly one in the same change.
- One change at a time: a second press, in another tab or device, waits for the first, so nothing is charged twice.
Worked examples: changing plan
- Basic → Pro. Basic monthly renews on 11 November. On 27 October, about half the month is left, you press "Switch now" on Pro: about half of the difference between 49.99 € and 19.99 € is charged today, you are on Pro at once, and on 11 November Pro renews at 49.99 €.
- Basic monthly → Basic yearly. Same plan, same day: 199.90 € less the unused half month of Basic is charged today, and the next payment is on 27 October next year.
- Moving up inside free days. Your paid Basic month ended on 11 November and you are on 7 free Basic days until 18 November. On 13 November you press "Switch now" on Pro: 49.99 € is charged today, Pro runs from today to 13 December, and your 5 remaining free Basic days follow it, until 18 December.
"Renew now"
While your plan runs on free days or a pass, with nothing paid ahead, Plan & billing offers "Renew now": your plan's next period is charged today and starts now, and what is left of your free time moves after it. It asks first, and also takes back a cancel, and a move down that was waiting happens with it. For example: your Pro period ended, a Basic pass runs, and you want Pro back today.
Adding or removing the VPS
"VPS: Quick install" is a VPS created for you with the app already on it, paid through your Relay2Trade plan; on your plan it is named "VPS". Its prices are in Plans, licence and billing. It renews with your plan, in the same payment.
Adding it to a plan that already runs
- Open Account → "Plan & billing" and turn on the switch "Add it to my plan" under "VPS" (or open Account → "Where the app runs" → "VPS: Quick install").
- The Desk names what is charged now for the days left until your renewal, and the price with each renewal after that (when the days left come to a very small amount, nothing is charged now). Confirm.
- Your saved card is charged, and you get the email "Your VPS is ready to set up".
- Press "Create it now", under Account → "Where the app runs" → "VPS: Quick install", or under Account → Security → "Computers running the app". It is ready in under a minute. Then sign in to MetaTrader on it.
Example: Basic monthly renews on 11 November; added on 27 October, about half of 5.00 € is charged now, and from 11 November each renewal is 19.99 € + 5.00 €.
- With free days behind your paid period: the paid days left are charged separately ("VPS, for the rest of the paid period"), and the free days behind them are free for the VPS as well.
- Inside your free time, with no paid day ahead: "Your plan is on free time now, and the VPS is added to paid time. Renew now and add it, or add it when the free time ends."
- A VPS you already had keeps running, and one that was put away comes back as it was.
- While a move down waits, keep your plan first, or add the VPS after the change. A plan that is not a paid subscription cannot take it in the Desk: write to support.
- When the card does not go through, "Pay on Stripe's page" appears, and the VPS is added the moment it is paid there. Left unpaid, nothing is added and nothing is charged.
Removing it
Turn off the switch under "VPS" and confirm. It keeps running until the end of your paid days (free days behind them do not carry it), then the install is put away, and what it holds is kept for 12 months in case you come back. Removed during free time with nothing paid ahead, it is put away at once.
- Nothing is refunded for the days already paid. Until that date, turning the switch on again costs nothing.
- A VPS removed from the list of computers stays on your plan, and you keep paying for it: to stop paying, take it off your plan under Plan & billing.
A VPS the Desk made in your own DigitalOcean account is in your own account, paid to DigitalOcean, and is not part of your plan: see Running Relay2Trade on a VPS.
Failed payments
When a renewal payment does not go through, access is paused until it does (what that means and the email you get are in Plans, licence and billing). Plan & billing shows "We try the payment again on …" and the button "Fix the payment".
- Stripe tries the card again by itself on the dates shown. To pay sooner, use "Pay now" in the email or "Fix the payment".
- Only one renewal is ever collected: you pay for one period, never for the weeks that passed without access. Your paid period starts on the day it is paid, and the renewal moves later by the days you waited.
- If the payment stays unpaid for about a month, the plan ends: you get "Your access has ended" and can subscribe again, with another card too.
Cancelling
Press "Cancel subscription" under Account → "Plan & billing" and confirm. Nothing more is charged.
- Your paid period, the free days on it and the passes queued after it all run to the end; the flag shows "Access ends …". You get "Your subscription is cancelled", and a reminder three days before your access really ends. "Resume subscription" takes the cancel back until then.
- With the VPS on your plan, the Desk asks "And your VPS until then?": keep it running until your access ends, or stop it now. Either way it is then put away and kept for 12 months.
- With a VPS in your own DigitalOcean account, the Desk reminds you that it keeps running, and DigitalOcean keeps charging, until you destroy it.
- Cancelling refunds nothing; refunds are in Plans, licence and billing.
When your plan has ended
You get "Your access has ended"; what stops and what is kept is in Plans, licence and billing. Free days you receive meanwhile wait for your next plan.
To come back, choose a plan under Account → "Plan & billing", as the first time; a card that failed can be replaced at checkout. Free days waiting are added after the first period, a pass you hold moves after it, and level and season rewards that waited are handed over. A VPS that was on your plan comes back as it was when you choose a plan with "VPS: Quick install" within 12 months.
How discounts come off
The kinds of discount are in Plans, licence and billing. They come off by themselves, and the plan cards already show the lower price.
- Each discount is for one payment; renewals are charged in full.
- One payment takes the single discount worth most, except the welcome and friend discounts, which add up. What is left keeps waiting.
- Yearly plans take no discount; it keeps waiting for a monthly or 7-day plan.
- A discount comes off the plan only, never the VPS beside it. On a move up it comes off what is charged that day; inside free time, off the first period charged.
- Some show "Use it by …": after that date they stop waiting.
If something goes wrong
- My renewal date moved, or Stripe's page shows a 0.00 € entry. Free days or a pass were added to your plan; nothing was charged. The bar lists each stretch, and "Licence history" lists what support added.
- I am on Basic limits while paying for Pro. A Basic pass, or free days added while you were on Basic, run after your paid period. Point at the stretch on the bar to see its plan and dates.
- I moved down and still have the higher limits. The change happens on the date in "Switching to … on …", your next renewal.
- I was charged and have no VPS. Create it with "Create it now", under Account → "Where the app runs".
- I cannot add the VPS. Inside free time it waits for paid time ("Renew now" starts it today); while a move down waits, press "Keep …" first.
- My plan shows "Payment failed". Press "Fix the payment" and pay, or change the card. Access returns at once.
- My discount did not come off. See "How discounts come off" above, and check its "Use it by" date under the plans.
For a payment question, open a conversation from Support in the Desk: it carries the details support needs. See also Plans, licence and billing, Items and the Inventory and Where the app runs.
