Profiles and MetaTrader accounts
What a profile is, how to add, rename and delete one, its own MetaTrader and Telegram, the trading switch, how many profiles your plan runs at once, and how to run several accounts side by side.
What a profile is
A profile is one MetaTrader 5 account with everything that trades it:
- its own MetaTrader 5 terminal, logged in to that account;
- its own Telegram connection;
- its own listeners (the groups it reads);
- its own settings: sizing, stop-loss, take-profits, limits and trading hours;
- its own trading switch;
- its own signals, positions and activity.
One profile, one MetaTrader account. To trade a second account, add a second profile; one Relay2Trade account and one licence cover all your profiles.
Set once for all profiles: your sign-in, your licence and plan, and the application's own settings (Settings → "Application": starting with Windows, the tray, language, log level, remote control and sync).
Every install starts with one profile named "Default". You can rename it.
All profiles run at once
Every profile that trades runs at the same time, in the one app on the computer where it is signed in. Each reads its own groups, places its own trades and manages its own positions.
- In the app, "Trading as" in the top bar chooses which profile the window shows. Switching changes only the view ("Now showing Second account"); nothing restarts. The Dashboard, Listeners, Settings and Connections pages show the selected profile. The bell shows every profile, and once you have more than one, each notice starts with the profile's name.
- In the Desk, the Overview shows a card for each profile with its connections and its day, and pages such as Settings let you pick the profile at the top.
The dot next to each profile's name shows its state: grey "stopped" (trading is off), green "running" (trading is on and MetaTrader is connected), amber (trading is on and something needs attention, such as no active licence, a MetaTrader problem or no terminal).
Adding a profile
You need an active licence. You can create as many profiles as you like on any plan; the plan sets how many trade at the same time.
In the app:
- Click "Trading as" in the top bar, then "+ New profile". The same card is on the Account page under "Trading profiles".
- Type a "Profile name" (up to 64 characters, different from your other profiles), pick a "Colour" and a "Symbol", and click "Create profile". Some symbols show "Opens at level …" and become available as your level grows.
- The Connections page opens with "Profile created: log in to its MetaTrader account to start." The app makes the profile's own copy of MetaTrader 5 by itself.
- In the "MetaTrader 5" box, log in to the broker account (see Connecting MetaTrader 5).
- Connect Telegram for this profile (see Connecting Telegram), then open Listeners and add its groups.
In the Desk: on the Overview, click "New profile", type its "Name", pick a "Colour" and a "Symbol" and click "Create the profile". Your app creates it and starts it beside the others, with default settings; connect its MetaTrader and add its listeners next. Your app has to be running for this.
A new profile starts with the default settings, held to your plan. If your plan's number of profiles is already trading, the new profile is created stopped by the plan (see "How many profiles trade at once" below).
The profile's own MetaTrader
MetaTrader is logged in to one account at a time, so two profiles cannot share one terminal. Every profile gets a separate copy of MetaTrader 5 in the app's folder, logged in to its account. The MetaTrader you already use, with its charts and its login, stays as it is.
On the Connections page, "Change terminal" offers:
- "Its own terminal" (recommended): the separate copy the app makes.
- "Another install…": a MetaTrader 5 you installed yourself. Give each profile a different one.
- "No terminal": the profile only watches its listeners; nothing is placed.
The first time on a computer, the app installs a clean MetaTrader 5 for itself, which takes a few minutes. Each MetaTrader terminal uses about 100–200 MB of memory and the app itself 200–400 MB, so add that up before you run three profiles on a small VPS.
The profile's own Telegram
Each profile signs in to Telegram separately, on the computer where the app runs, and lists the groups of that Telegram account. Two profiles can use the same Telegram account or two different ones. A group added as a listener on two profiles counts as two listeners.
Renaming a profile
- In the app: click "Edit" next to the profile's name on the Connections page, or on its card under Account → "Trading profiles". "Edit profile" has "Profile name", "Colour" and "Symbol"; click "Save".
- In the Desk: open the profile card's menu ("Profile actions") → "Edit profile", change "Name", "Colour" or "Symbol", and "Save".
A rename changes only the name; its signals, trades and settings stay with the profile.
Deleting a profile
- In the app: "Edit" → "Delete profile".
- In the Desk: the profile card's menu → "Delete the profile". Your app has to be running.
Deleting is offered while you have more than one profile. After you confirm:
- the profile disappears from your app and no longer counts toward the profiles you can run at once;
- its settings, listeners and history kept where the app runs are removed; anything already synced to your account stays;
- a MetaTrader copy the app made for it is removed; a MetaTrader of your own stays open and logged in, without the app's trading bridge.
To free a place for another profile, switching this one's trading off is enough: a stopped profile keeps its settings, listeners and history and uses no place.
The trading switch
Each profile has its own switch:
- In the app: the "Trading" switch at the top of the Connections page, or "Trading enabled" in Settings → "Trading". Switching off asks "Stop trading on "…"? Its listeners disconnect and no new orders are placed. Open positions are left alone."; click "Yes, continue".
- In the Desk: "Pause" and "Resume" on the profile's card, shown while your app is running.
When a profile is off:
- Within about 30 seconds its Telegram connection closes. A signal that still arrives is recorded as "Signal skipped — trading is turned off".
- The profile's own MetaTrader is closed. A MetaTrader you chose yourself stays open.
- Open trades stay at the broker with their stop-loss and take-profit, and pending orders can still fill there.
- What the app does by itself waits until trading is on again: moving stops after a take-profit, closing the shares of "One trade", following runners and closing them before the weekend. A limit order that expires is cancelled instead of being sent to market. Dry runs do not start.
Switching a profile off closes nothing for you.
When you switch it back on, MetaTrader starts (with an active licence and a terminal set up) and the listeners reconnect within about 30 seconds. Messages posted while the profile was off can arrive as Telegram catches up; those older than "Max signal age (min)" are skipped.
To stop one group only, switch off that listener's "Enabled" or set its "Mode" to "Watch — record only"; the rest of the profile keeps trading. "Restore default settings" and the setup questions never change the trading switch.
How many profiles trade at once
Your plan counts the profiles that are trading at the same time. Stopped profiles use no place.
| Plan | Profiles trading at once | Listeners running at once (all profiles together) | Open positions, per profile |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7-day plan | 1 | 1 | 10 |
| Basic | 1 | 2 | 10 |
| Advanced | 2 | 4 | 50 |
| Pro | 3 | 6 | 100 |
- Level 20 adds one profile, and level 40 another. Ten subscribed friends add one for good. Cards such as "One extra profile for 30 days" add one for a while.
- Level 10 and level 40 each add one listener.
- The app's Account page shows how many trade against how many may, for example "1 of 3 trading".
Starting one more than the plan holds is refused with "Your plan allows 2 profiles trading at once. Stop one to start another." (with your plan's number). A profile stopped by the plan offers "Trade on this profile": it asks which trading profile gives way, and "Switch trading" stops that one and starts this one in one step. The limit window also shows the ways to run more profiles at once.
When your allowance goes down (a card ended, the plan changed), the newest profiles are stopped and the bell says, for example, "Profile Demo stopped trading: your plan allows … trading at once. Stop another to start it." Nothing is deleted. A profile stopped by the plan reads and places nothing; what it has open stays at the broker with its stop-loss and take-profit. It trades again by itself when the plan allows.
Common setups
- The same group on two accounts, at different sizes. Add the group as a listener on both profiles and set "Risk % of equity" on each: 1% on one, 0.5% on the other. It counts as two listeners.
- A new group on demo money first. Add a "Demo" profile logged in to a demo account. When your plan runs one profile at a time, the demo profile takes the place of your live one while it runs; a listener on "Watch — record only" plus a dry run judges a group without a second profile.
- One group smaller than the rest on the same account. Keep one profile and give that listener its own "Risk % of equity" under "Settings of its own" (see How settings work).
- One account paused over the holidays. Switch that profile's trading off; the other keeps running.
- Two Telegram accounts, each with its own groups. Log each profile in to its own Telegram account.
On a new computer
Your profiles belong to your account. When you sign in on a new computer, or after a reinstall, the app brings them back with their settings and listeners ("Brought back from your account: …"); the ↻ in the top bar asks again. On that computer, log in to MetaTrader and connect Telegram again for each profile; the app makes each profile's own terminal by itself. See Computers and moving the app.
If something goes wrong
- "I switched profiles and my trades disappeared." The window shows one profile at a time. Switch back with "Trading as"; the other profile kept trading.
- "I created three profiles but only one trades." Your plan sets how many trade at once. Stop one to start another, or move to a plan that holds more.
- "A profile stopped trading on its own." Your allowance went down, and the bell names the profile. Stop another profile and start this one, or use "Trade on this profile".
- "Both my profiles use the MetaTrader I already had." One terminal holds one login. Open Connections → "Change terminal" → "Its own terminal" for each profile.
- "I stopped a profile and its trailing stop no longer moves." With trading off the app does not manage its trades. The stop-loss and take-profit at the broker still work; switch trading on and the app manages the trade again.
- "Deleting a profile freed nothing." Only a profile that was trading uses a place. Switching its trading off is enough.
- "A listener's own Max open positions is 5, yet it stopped at 2." The profile's limit counts every group's trades, and the others had filled it.
- "I opened a second Relay2Trade account for my second MT5 account." One account is enough: add a second profile.
- "The Delete button is missing." It shows while you have more than one profile.
