Glossary
Every term a Relay2Trade customer meets in the app, the Desk and the website, A to Z, each in a sentence or two with a link to the article that explains it.
A
- Access pass. Access to the app at a plan (Basic, Advanced or Pro) for a number of days, with no subscription needed; on the plan bar and in emails it is also called "access" or "comp time". Passes wait in the Inventory as cards and run one after another once used. See Subscriptions and time on your plan.
- Account code. Your permanent code on Relay2Trade: your invite code and the address of your public profile. It never changes. See Looks and your public profile.
- Algo trading. MetaTrader 5's permission for automated trading. When your broker switches it off for your account, the app says "The broker's server has algo trading disabled for this account — contact the broker." See Connecting MetaTrader 5.
- Allowed symbols. An optional list of the only instruments the app trades, from any listener. Left empty, every symbol can trade. See How settings work.
- Amplifier. A card that makes the "+N" cards of one limit count more, for example +1 for signals: each "+N" card then counts twice. XP amplifiers raise your XP multiplier. See Your limits explained.
- App. The Relay2Trade desktop app, which does the trading: it reads your Telegram groups and places the trades in your MetaTrader 5. It runs on Windows, on Linux or on a VPS, and trades while it is running. See What Relay2Trade is.
- "Awaiting your approval". Where signals wait for "Trade it" or "Dismiss": every signal of a Manual listener, and on Auto a signal that looks like a repeat or arrived while the app was away. After 10 minutes it expires and nothing is placed. See Listeners and modes.
B
- Badge. A permanent award for habits and milestones, in families with ranks, such as Streak, Signal reader or Belt and braces. Badges pay XP and never reward profit. See Levels, seasons and the shop.
- Board. A ranking by XP earned in the app: "This season", "All time", "Your circle" and "Around you". Only accounts that have had a paid subscription are ranked, and you can hide yourself with "List me on the public boards". See Seasons.
- Board name. The name you show on the boards and your public profile ("Show me on the board as", up to 24 characters). Left empty, you appear as a Trader number. See Looks and your public profile.
- Breakeven. A stop-loss moved to the entry price, so the trade can no longer lose. The trailing stop option "To the entry" does it after the first take-profit, and a group's "SL to entry" follow-up does it on request. See Take-profits, trailing stop and runners.
- Broker's day. The trading day on your broker's server clock. Daily limits count it and start again at midnight on the broker's server clock. See Daily loss limit, daily profit target and signals per day.
C
- Card. A reward that waits in your Inventory until you press "Use now": XP, an XP boost, streak shields, an extra profile or listener for a while, free days or an access pass. Using a card is final. See Items and the Inventory.
- Computer. A machine where the app has signed in, listed in Desk → Account → Security → "Computers running the app". The app runs on one computer at a time; from this list you can sign it back in on a computer, or make a one-time code to sign it in on another. See Computers and moving the app.
- Coupon. A code that gives what it holds: cards, Sparks, looks, badges, plan time or a discount. Redeem it under Account → Promotions → "Redeem a coupon", once per account. See Promotions, coupons and inviting friends.
D
- Daily loss limit. "Max daily loss": once today's result on the broker's day is this far in the red, no new trades open until the next day. Switches under it can also delete pending orders and close open trades at the line. See Daily loss limit, daily profit target and signals per day.
- Daily profit target. "Daily profit target": once today's result is this far in profit, no new trades open until the next day. See Daily loss limit, daily profit target and signals per day.
- Demo account. A practice account at your broker. It behaves like a live account and is the right place to start. See Connecting MetaTrader 5.
- Demo day. A full day of the Basic plan for every new account that confirms its email, with no bank card, including a VPS set up for you. It starts when your app is first signed in. See Plans, licence and billing.
- Desk. Your control panel on relay2trade.com, in any browser on your phone or computer; on a phone you can also install it on the home screen, where it opens like an app. There you sign in MetaTrader 5 and Telegram, add listeners, change settings, approve signals and follow every trade. See The Desk and the Desk on your phone.
- Dry run. A replay of a group's latest messages through your settings against the price history, placing nothing, so you see what the listener would have done. Your plan sets how many a month and how many messages each reads. See Listeners and modes.
- Duplicate. A signal that looks like a repeat of a recent one (same symbol, side and levels). It waits for your approval instead of trading twice. See How a signal is read.
E
- Entry mode. How a listener enters: "Market" enters right away at the current price; "Limit (at the entry or better)" places a pending order at the signal's entry and waits for the price. See Entries, limit orders and stop orders.
- Equity. Your account's balance plus the floating result of its open trades. "Risk % of equity" sizes trades from it, and "Lowest equity to trade" stops new trades below a set amount. See Position sizing and safety limits.
- Extra card. A card that adds to one plan limit for its own days from use, such as "One extra profile for 30 days" or more signals a day. Every running card adds; an amplifier makes them count more and a "×N" card multiplies the whole limit. See Your limits explained.
F
- Follow-up. A later message from a group about a trade already open: close it, cancel it, move its stop or target, close part of it. "Exits and stop moves" and "Partial closes and target moves" decide what the app does with them. See Stop-loss settings and the group's follow-up messages.
- "Force placement". On a signal one of your own rules refused, it places the signal anyway after showing exactly what would be placed and what is at risk. "Try again" judges it again with your settings as they are now. See Why a signal was skipped.
- Free days. Days added to a running subscription: the renewal moves later and nothing is charged, and the days keep the plan you had when they were added. Without a subscription they wait for your next plan and run right after its first period. See Subscriptions and time on your plan.
H
- Hedging account. A MetaTrader account that can hold several positions on the same symbol, as most retail accounts do. See "Netting account". See Position sizing and safety limits.
I
- Inbox. The bell in the Desk: "Your apps" (what your apps tell you: trades, skips, problems) and "Your account" (levels, badges, the season, cards, our replies, news). Read in one place, read everywhere. See Inbox and notifications.
- Inventory. Where your cards wait until you use them, with what is running now and the cards already used. It has its own tab in the Desk. See Items and the Inventory.
- Invite link. Your link under Account → Invite friends. A friend who registers through it pays 20% less on the first monthly payment (with the welcome offer), and their subscription earns you XP and Sparks. See Promotions, coupons and inviting friends.
L
- Language. Your account has one language, which the Desk, the app's window, emails and notifications all follow; there are 13. Change it in the Desk under Settings → "Account settings" → "Language". Signals are read in any language, whatever yours is. See Languages.
- Level. Your rank from 0 to 40, built from lifetime XP. It never drops, starts with your first subscription payment, and adds plan extras at levels 10, 20, 30 and 40. See XP and levels.
- Licence. What lets the app trade, given by your plan. The app checks it by itself; without an active one it does not sign in to MetaTrader 5 and Telegram or place trades. See Plans, licence and billing.
- Listener. One Telegram group or channel the app reads signals from, with its mode and its own rules. Your plan counts how many run at once, across all profiles. See Listeners and modes.
- Look. How you appear to others: an icon, a border and a title, from levels, badges, seasons, prizes and the shop. A new look is never put on for you: wear it with "Change look". See Looks and your public profile.
- Lot. The unit of trade size in MetaTrader 5. The app works the lots out from your sizing mode ("Risk % of equity", "Fixed cash" or "Fixed lots"), within your broker's smallest lot and your caps. See Position sizing and safety limits.
M
- Margin. The money your broker sets aside to keep trades open. "Max margin use %" skips a signal whose trades would push margin in use above that share of equity. See Position sizing and safety limits.
- "Max signal age (min)". How old a message may be and still trade, 5 minutes by default. Older messages are never traded. See How a signal is read.
- MetaTrader 5 (MT5). Your broker's trading platform, where the app places its trades. Relay2Trade works with MetaTrader 5 at any broker, live or demo, and can install it for you. See Connecting MetaTrader 5.
- Mode. What a listener does with a signal: "Watch — record only" records it and places nothing; "Manual — wait for my approval" waits for you; "Auto — trade immediately" places it within seconds, inside your limits. See Listeners and modes.
N
- Netting account. A MetaTrader account that keeps one position per symbol. The app detects it: a signal with several take-profits becomes one position, and its earlier targets rest at the broker as closing orders. See Position sizing and safety limits.
- "Notifications on this device". The switch, one per browser or phone, that sends what your apps tell you and what your account is sent to that device, even with the Desk closed. On an iPhone or iPad, install the Desk on the Home Screen first. See Inbox and notifications.
O
- Open positions. Trades open at the same time on one profile. "Max open positions" caps them, up to your plan's number. See Position sizing and safety limits.
P
- Pending order. An order waiting at your broker for the price to reach it: a limit order at a signal's entry, or a stop order for a BUY STOP or SELL STOP signal. "Cancel a limit or stop order not filled after" removes one that has waited too long. See Entries, limit orders and stop orders.
- Pip and point. Units of price movement. A point is the smallest price step of a symbol; on 5-digit forex 10 points make 1 pip, and on gold quoted to 2 decimals 100 points make 1.00. See Position sizing and safety limits.
- Plan. What you pay for: 7 days, Basic, Advanced or Pro, and the last three also yearly. Every plan has every trading feature; they differ in how much runs at once. See Plans, licence and billing.
- Plan limit. A number your plan sets: profiles trading at once, listeners running at once, open positions per profile, signals per day, dry runs per month, messages per dry run and streak shields. Levels and cards add to it, and Desk → Account → "Plan & billing" → "What your plan allows" shows how. See Your limits explained.
- Profile. One MetaTrader 5 account with its own settings, listeners and MetaTrader. You can create as many as you like; your plan counts the ones trading at once. See Profiles and MetaTrader accounts.
- Promotions. The page (Desk → Account → Promotions) that lists what is running now, redeems coupons and shows the invite rewards. See Promotions, coupons and inviting friends.
- Public profile. Your page others can see: board name, look, level, streak, badges and season finishes, never your email or real name. Hidden while you are off the boards. See Looks and your public profile.
Q
- Quest. A goal that pays XP: four weekly quests, a daily quest, a season quest and holiday quests. All four weekly quests in one week add a clean sweep bonus. See XP and levels.
R
- "Read wrong?". The button on a signal to report that the app read the message wrong and say what it really said. See How a signal is read.
- Remote control. The master switch for the Desk: on, the app sends its status, signals and settings there and carries out what you do there. It is on by default, in the app under Settings → "Application". See The Desk and the Desk on your phone.
- "Require stop-loss". On, a signal that gives no stop-loss is skipped. Off, such a signal gets a default stop for its kind of instrument. See Stop-loss settings and the group's follow-up messages.
- Runner. A trade with no take-profit: the part of a signal that says to hold, or a signal that gives no target. "Protect runners" follows its stop once it is far enough in profit, and runners can close before the weekend. See Take-profits, trailing stop and runners.
- Running items. What runs on your account now ("Active now") and what waits its turn ("Waiting to run"): extra cards, boosts, discounts, shields, free days and access passes, each with when it ends. They show on your level card under Account, in "All progress" and in the Inventory. See Items and the Inventory.
S
- Season. A three-month race (autumn, winter, spring, summer) with its own name, track, boards and prizes. Season XP starts from zero each season. See Seasons.
- Season track. The free reward track of a season: each tier pays cards, Sparks or looks the moment your season XP crosses it, once your account has had a paid subscription. Season XP bought in the shop moves the track, not your place on a board. See Seasons.
- Season XP. The XP you earn by using the app while a season runs (connected days, signals, trades, quests and invites, boosts included); it climbs the season track and ranks you on "This season". First steps, badges and rewards count for your level only. See Seasons.
- "Settings of its own". Settings a listener uses instead of the profile's, such as its own size, take-profits or trading hours, and limits counted on its own trades. What it does not set follows the profile. See Listeners and modes.
- Shop. Where you spend Sparks on cards, season XP and looks. It has its own tab in the Desk. See Levels, seasons and the shop.
- Signal. A message the app read as a trade: symbol, side, entry, stop-loss and take-profits. Chat, results and analysis are left alone. See How a signal is read.
- Signal story. The full record of one signal: the original message, the levels read, the settings it ran under, the size with its arithmetic, the trades placed and what happened, with the reason for anything skipped. See The signal story.
- Slippage. The distance between the price asked for and the price filled. "Max slippage (points)" is sent with every market order, and the broker rejects a fill further away. See Position sizing and safety limits.
- Sparks. The in-app currency, earned on the season track, at the season close and from invites, or bought in packages. Spent in the shop; not refundable. See Levels, seasons and the shop.
- Spread. The difference between the ask and the bid. "Max spread (points)" skips a market entry when the spread is wider. See Position sizing and safety limits.
- Stop-loss. The price where a losing trade closes. The app places the signal's stop-loss with every trade at the broker, so it works even when the app is off. See Stop-loss settings and the group's follow-up messages.
- Streak. The number of days in a row with the app connected. It raises your daily XP, and a streak shield covers one missed day; you earn one every 7th streak day, up to your plan's number. See XP and levels.
- Subscription. A plan paid by card that renews by itself every 7 days, every month or every year until you cancel. Free days and access passes on it move the renewal later; Desk → Account → "Plan & billing" shows the next payment. See Subscriptions and time on your plan.
- Symbol names at your broker. Your broker's own name for an instrument, such as XAUUSD.s. The app finds names and endings by itself; you name one only when your broker calls it something else. See How settings work.
- Sync. What the app shares with your account for the Desk: "Sync activity" (status, signals and activity), "Sync settings & listeners" (settings kept with your account and editable from the Desk) and "Sync original messages" (the message text). All need "Remote control" on. See The Desk and the Desk on your phone.
T
- Take-profit. A price where a trade closes in profit. With several take-profits, "Multiple take-profits" decides how they are traded: "Split", "One trade", "Nearest take-profit only" or "Furthest take-profit only". See Take-profits, trailing stop and runners.
- Telegram session. The app's sign-in to your own Telegram account, made by scanning a QR code or with your number and the code Telegram sends. The app reads your groups through it, like any Telegram client. See Connecting Telegram.
- Ticket. A conversation with our support team, opened from Desk → Account → "Support" or from the app's "Support" page, with the app's recent log attached while the app runs. People answer, in the ticket and by email. See Getting support.
- Trading bridge. The small part of Relay2Trade inside MetaTrader 5 that places the app's orders. The Dashboard shows its version; "⚠ bridge outdated — restart MT5" goes away once you reopen MetaTrader 5. See Connecting MetaTrader 5.
- "Trading enabled". A profile's master switch ("Pause" in the Desk). Off, nothing new is placed; open trades keep their stop-loss and take-profit at the broker. See Profiles and MetaTrader accounts.
- Trailing stop. How the stop-loss of what is still open moves forward as each take-profit is reached: "To the entry", "To the take-profit before", "A fixed step from the entry" or "Just behind the take-profit reached". A stop only ever tightens. See Take-profits, trailing stop and runners.
- Two-factor authentication. An optional second step at sign-in, with a code from an authenticator app; recovery codes replace the code if you lose the device. Set it under Desk → Account → Security. See Account security.
V
- VPS. A computer in a data centre that stays on, so the app trades with your own computer off. In the Desk, "VPS: Quick install" is a VPS created for you with the app already on it, paid through your Relay2Trade plan; the Desk can also make one in your own DigitalOcean account, or put the app on a VPS you already have. See Where the app runs and Running Relay2Trade on a VPS.
W
- Watch mode. "Watch — record only": the listener records each signal and what your rules would have done, and places nothing. New listeners start on Watch. See Listeners and modes.
X
- XP. Points for using the app: connected days, signals read, trades placed, quests, badges and invited friends. Profit earns nothing. XP builds your level and your season XP. See XP and levels.
- XP boost. A card that multiplies the XP you earn by using the app for a few days, "Double XP" or "Triple XP"; the boosted XP counts for the season too. Boosts running together count up to ×30. See XP and levels.
