Speed, what keeps the app running, and support

The median time from a message reaching the app to the order being sent is 0.6 seconds, measured over more than 1,300 traded signals. Telegram's delivery and your broker's execution are outside that figure.

Key points
  • The app trades while it is running. For groups that post at night, run it on a VPS.
  • It updates itself with signed builds and repairs its MetaTrader connection. After an outage, recent signals wait for your approval. Older ones are dropped.
  • Support is answered by people, as fast as we can. A ticket opened from the app's Support page carries the recent app log. In the app, Help (F1) searches every setting and these guides.

How the speed was measured

A signal's story shows when the message was posted, when it arrived and when the orders were placed. Click to see it full size

The 0.6 seconds is a median: half of the traded signals were faster. The clock starts when a message reaches the app and stops when the order is sent to MetaTrader. Nearly all of that time is the AI reading the message.

The three parts of the delay

1. Telegram to your computer. The group posts "BUY XAUUSD 2400, SL 2390, TP1 2410, TP2 2420, TP3 2430" and Telegram delivers it to the app, as it does to your phone. Outside the measurement.

2. Message in the app to order sent. The message is read, checked against your rules and sized, and the order goes to MetaTrader. This is the measured part.

3. Order sent to order filled. Your broker executes it at the price of that moment. Outside the measurement.

A message Telegram delivers later than "Max signal age (min)" allows (default 5) is recorded as too old and not traded.
More detail

The app's own work inside that time (checking your rules, sizing the trade, handing the order to MetaTrader) is negligible. Telegram's delivery and the broker's execution depend on Telegram, your internet connection and your broker.

"Max signal age (min)" is on the Settings page. "Max slippage (points)" sets how far from the requested price a fill may be. A message recorded as too old has the delay written out in its story.

Signed updates that wait for a quiet moment

The "What's new" window on v1.7.81, marked "installed", with that release's notes. Click to see it full size

The app checks for a new version every 10 minutes. It accepts only builds signed with its own key, and installs one when no profile has open positions, pending limit orders or signals waiting for approval. You stay signed in, and your settings stay.

A ready update shows "update v… ready — click to update now" in the status bar. A click installs it at once. Open positions stay at your broker with their stop-loss and take-profit.
More detail

The app also checks whenever you click the version number at the bottom of the sidebar. It downloads the build, verifies its signature against a key built into the app, and starts it once to confirm the version. A build with a wrong or missing signature is refused.

The app restarts to install, and the MetaTrader terminals keep running. Afterwards the Dashboard shows "Updated to v…" with "See what changed". The "What's new" window lists the last releases, marked "installed" and "new for you".

Staying signed in through updates and restarts matters on a VPS nobody is watching. When a version changes a setting itself, the banner "Your settings changed" lists each one as "new", "gone" or "changed", with an "Open settings" button.

A required update (your version is below the minimum the service accepts) shows "required update v… — restarting shortly" and installs within about 30 seconds even with trades open. Positions keep their stop-loss and take-profit at the broker. If a new build cannot start, the previous one is put back.

After an outage: recent signals wait for you, old ones are dropped

"Awaiting your approval": SELL EURUSD from FX Majors Desk, 8 minutes left, with "Trade it" and "Dismiss". Click to see it full size

When the app comes back from a lost connection or a sleeping computer, Telegram hands over what was posted in the meantime. A message within "Max signal age (min)" is read and waits for your approval, whatever the listener's mode. An older one is dropped unread.

Example

Your internet is down for 20 minutes and "Max signal age (min)" is 5.

The signals posted in the last 5 minutes of the outage appear under "Awaiting your approval", with a line such as "Posted about 4 min before the app picked it up, after the connection came back — check the price first".

The earlier ones are not picked up.

A signal waiting for approval on an Auto listener was posted while the app was away, or looks like a duplicate. Approvals last 10 minutes.
More detail

When the Telegram connection drops, the app shows "reconnecting" and retries every 10 seconds. A sleeping computer counts as time away too: the app notices the gap when it wakes.

Recent messages wait for approval because the price may have moved while nobody was watching. "Trade it" runs every check again at the current price. A message older than the limit leaves no record, no notice and no trade.

Trades, skips and problems from every profile land in one notification list, which shows what happened while you were away.

MetaTrader is watched and repaired automatically

The MetaTrader 5 box when connected: account 50123456, Demo Broker Ltd, Hedging, terminal running, trading bridge 1.16. Click to see it full size

The app checks each profile's MetaTrader every two seconds and repairs the usual problems by itself. A banner says what is wrong and counts down 30 seconds. You can act at once or decline. The same repair is on the Connections page.

  1. 1
    Open the Connections page.
  2. 2
In the "MetaTrader 5" box click "Fix MT5 connection". It is there while the app is not connected to MetaTrader; in the Desk the button is "Repair".
  3. 3
Wait about half a minute. MetaTrader restarts once. Your broker login and your charts stay as they are.
If the same problem returns within 30 minutes of a repair, the automatic repair pauses and the banner tells you what to do by hand, for example click "Algo Trading" in the MetaTrader toolbar.
More detail

When the banner reads "MetaTrader 5 is closed", the app reopens it, and the buttons are "Open now" and "Leave closed". For "MetaTrader 5 is not connected", "MetaTrader is running an old trading bridge", "Algo trading is off in MetaTrader" and "MetaTrader has an old trading setup on its chart", the app redoes its setup and MetaTrader restarts once. The buttons are "Repair now" and "Not now". Algo trading is on when the "Algo Trading" button in the MetaTrader toolbar is green.

The trading bridge is the small expert advisor the app installs in MetaTrader to place the orders. A new bridge is written to disk with an app update and loaded the next time MetaTrader starts. Until then the status bar shows "⚠ bridge outdated — restart MT5".

Your own charts and expert advisors are safe. The app adds one chart for its bridge and touches only the orders it placed itself.

Service status and the licence check

When something on our side is affected, the app says so with a banner and a "Service status" button. Your licence is checked at start and every 10 minutes. Trading pauses only after 2 hours without a confirmed licence.

If you subscribed a moment ago and the licence still reads inactive, click ↻ next to "Licence" on the Dashboard. The answer is "Licence is active — you are all set."
More detail

The app asks relay2trade.com for its public status every 3 minutes. The banner reads "Relay2Trade is having an outage" or "Relay2Trade is partly degraded", names the affected part and adds "It is us, not your setup — your app keeps running and picks up where it left off." The status page lists "Accounts and licensing", "Signal extraction" and "Remote sync", each as "Operational", "Degraded" or "Down".

A short internet interruption changes nothing. After 2 hours the app shows "Subscription not confirmed for over 2 hours — check your connection". Open positions stay at the broker, and the app keeps managing them while MetaTrader is connected.

Around the clock on a Windows VPS

When your groups post at night or while your laptop is closed, a small rented Windows computer (a VPS) keeps reading and trading. You reach it with Remote Desktop and install MetaTrader 5 and Relay2Trade on it as you would at home.

  1. 1
At home, turn on Settings → Application → "Sync settings & listeners", so your settings wait on your account.
  2. 2
On the VPS install Relay2Trade and sign in. This signs your home computer out.
  3. 3
Connect MetaTrader 5 and Telegram. Keep "Launch at startup" and "Start minimized in tray" on.
  4. 4
When you leave, close the Remote Desktop window and keep the Windows user signed in.
Closing the Remote Desktop window keeps everything running. "Sign out" in the Start menu stops it. After a VPS restart the app starts only when its Windows user signs in.
More detail

The VPS stays your machine: your broker login, your Telegram session and your settings live on it. One computer runs the app for an account at a time.

Pick Windows 10 or 11, or Windows Server 2019 or newer, with a desktop, 2 cores and 4 GB of memory, in a data centre near your broker. Expect roughly 10–20 € a month. The "VPS" button inside MetaTrader hosts MetaTrader's own robots only, so choose an ordinary Windows VPS.

After a VPS restart, either someone signs in to Windows or Windows does it automatically. The guide "Running on a VPS" on this site shows how with Sysinternals Autologon, and walks through the whole setup.

Help and guided tours inside the app

The ? at the top of the app, or F1, opens Help. It searches every setting, explained by the app itself, and these feature pages: their guides, common setups, pitfalls and questions. A setting has "Show me", which opens the page it is on and points at it.

  1. 1
Click ? at the top of the app or press F1. The search box on the Support page opens Help too.
  2. 2
Type what you are looking for in plain words: "stop-loss", "close half", "daily loss".
  3. 3
Open a result. On a setting, click "Show me" to go to it.
Help keeps the last copy of the website's guides, so it opens without internet. Every setting is explained there all the same.
More detail

On first launch the app offers a setup tour: sign in through the website, start a plan, connect MetaTrader in its own terminal and Telegram by QR code, answer the basic settings questions, then make a private test channel on your phone, add a listener on it set to Auto, and save. The app writes a test signal from your broker's live price, gold or, while other markets are closed, BTC. You post it in the channel, watch it arrive and trade, and see how a follow-up reply such as "move SL to entry" is read.

The tour skips what is already done. If the test needs MetaTrader or Telegram and they are not connected, it takes you there first and comes back. On a real-money account the test signal carries a warning not to execute it there: test on a demo account.

"Look around the app" walks through each part of the window. All three tours ("Set up step by step", "Look around the app", "Progression and seasons") can be taken again from the Support page, under "Guided tours", and from Help (F1).

A profile set up before the simpler settings sees a banner once, offering "Reset and set up step by step" or "Keep my settings". The reset puts the profile's settings back to how the app starts out and runs the tour. Listeners, history and connections stay.

Support tickets, with your log attached

The ticket form, with "Send the recent app log with it" ticked, and "My tickets" below. Click to see it full size

Open tickets from the Support page in the app's sidebar. We answer in the app and by email. Ideas and wishes go to the Feedback page, and crashes are reported automatically.

  1. 1
In the sidebar click "Support". The page is titled "Help & support".
  2. 2
Type a subject, choose a category and describe what you were doing and what happened instead.
  3. 3
Keep "Send the recent app log with it" ticked and click "Open a ticket".
  4. 4
You see "Ticket RT-AB2C3D is open — we answer here and by email." Follow it under "My tickets".
If you opened the ticket on the website and we ask for the log, click "Reply" on the ticket in the app with the log box ticked. That attaches it.
More detail

The categories are "Not sure", "Setting it up", "Signals and trades", "Licence and billing", "Something is broken" and "Something else". Under "My tickets" the status reads "With us", "Waiting for you", "Resolved" or "Closed".

The last part of the app log travels with your message, so we can see what happened. You can also write from the Support page of the website or to support@relay2trade.com. The Support page in the app works even before you have accepted the Terms.

The Feedback page takes a subject and a message, then "Send feedback". We read every message and reply in the app and by email. Feedback references start with FB-.

Crashes are reported automatically with technical context, so nobody has to describe one. Those reports are not tickets and get no reply.

The situations that come up most

Situation, cause and fix

Signals arrive and nothing is traded. The listener is on "Watch — record only", trading is stopped on the profile, MetaTrader is not logged in to the broker, or a rule skipped the signal. The signal's story names the rule.

A message from the group never shows in the app. The prefilter set it aside (it reads messages with a number and a trading word, or an instrument with its prices; the rest are under Signals → "Every message"), edited messages are not read again, or the listener is switched off.

MetaTrader does not log in. The broker server name has to be exact, capitals included. Pick the account or server the app offers above the login form, or search for your broker in the "Broker server" field.

More detail

"Signal not processed: today's limit of 15 signals is reached." is your plan's daily allowance. It resets at 00:00 UTC.

"Session expired — log in again" means the account signed in on another computer. One computer runs the app for an account at a time.

A follow-up such as "close half" that did nothing: partial closes and target moves are left to your settings by default ("Partial closes and target moves"), and any follow-up acts only while the group has a trade open or an order waiting. The signal's story says what was done with it.

When the app is not on screen, it is in the tray near the clock. Starting it again brings the window forward.

Common setups

What you want, and what to set or press.

I want it to trade while I sleep or work

  • →A Windows VPS: 2 cores, 4 GB, Windows with a desktop
  • →Settings → Application → Launch at startup → On
  • →Settings → Application → Start minimized in tray → On
  • →Close the Remote Desktop window; keep Windows signed in

The app trades while the computer and the app are on. A VPS is a computer that is always on.

MetaTrader shows as not connected

  • →Let the banner count down, or click "Repair now"
  • →or Connections → MetaTrader 5 → Fix MT5 connection

The repair reinstalls the trading bridge, switches algo trading back on and reconnects. MetaTrader restarts once.

I paid a moment ago and the app still shows no licence

  • →Dashboard → ↻ next to "Licence"

The licence is checked every 10 minutes. ↻ checks it now.

I need help, with the right details attached

  • →Support → subject, category, message
  • →"Send the recent app log with it" → ticked
  • →Open a ticket

The log shows us what happened. We answer in the app and by email.

I want the app back by itself after Windows restarts

  • →Settings → Application → Launch at startup → On
  • →Settings → Application → Start minimized in tray → On
  • →On a VPS: automatic Windows sign-in (Sysinternals Autologon)

The app starts when its Windows user signs in. It stays signed in, and MetaTrader and Telegram reconnect by themselves.

After an outage I want only very fresh signals

  • →Settings → Repeated, late and opposite signals → Max signal age (min) → 1

Only messages up to a minute old are picked up. They wait for your approval, and older ones are dropped.

After a short outage I want to see more of what I missed

  • →Settings → Repeated, late and opposite signals → Max signal age (min) → 15

Messages up to 15 minutes old wait under "Awaiting your approval". The setting goes from 1 to 60.

I want to set the app up again, step by step

  • →Support → Guided tours → Set up step by step

The tour skips what is already done and ends with a test signal in your own channel.

I want the update now

  • →Status bar → "update v… ready — click to update now"

Left alone, it installs at the first moment with no open positions, pending limits or waiting approvals.

I want to see the messages the app left out

  • →Signals → "Every message"

Messages the prefilter left out ("skipped, not read") and the ones read but not a signal ("read, not a signal") are listed there for a week.

Common pitfalls

✕"A signal is waiting for my approval but the listener is on Auto."

✓It was posted while the app was away, or it looks like a duplicate of a recent one. Check the price and click "Trade it" or "Dismiss" within 10 minutes.

✕"I closed my laptop and the app missed the signals."

✓A sleeping computer is time away for the app. Keep the PC awake while your groups post, or run the app on a VPS.

✕"The status bar says bridge outdated."

✓The new trading bridge is already on disk. Close MetaTrader 5 and open it again to load it, or let the repair banner do it.

✕"The app says Session expired — log in again."

✓Your account signed in on another computer, and one computer runs the app at a time. Sign in again on the one you want to use.

✕"I used Sign out on the VPS and the app stopped."

✓Signing out of Windows closes its programs. Close the Remote Desktop window instead, and the app keeps running.

✕"The app reported an outage and I started changing my settings."

✓An outage banner means the cause is on our side. Your setup is fine. The app keeps running and picks up where it left off.

✕"I described the problem by email and was asked for the log."

✓Open the ticket, or reply to it, from the Support page of the app with "Send the recent app log with it" ticked. The log shows us what happened.

Frequently asked questions

How fast does Relay2Trade copy a Telegram signal to MetaTrader 5?

The median is 0.6 seconds from the message reaching the app to the order being sent, measured over more than 1,300 traded signals. Nearly all of that is the AI reading the message. Telegram delivering the message and your broker executing the order are outside that figure.

Does Relay2Trade trade when my computer is off?

It trades while the app is running. For signals at night or while you are away, run it on a VPS. Positions that are already open keep the stop-loss and take-profit they have at the broker.

Does Relay2Trade update itself, and is that safe with open trades?

Yes. It checks every 10 minutes, accepts only builds signed with its own key, and installs when no positions, pending limits or approvals are open. Open positions stay at your broker through the restart.

What happens to signals posted while the app was offline?

Messages newer than "Max signal age (min)" (default 5 minutes) are read and wait for your approval, whatever the listener's mode. Older ones are dropped unread.

Where does the app explain its settings?

In Help: press F1 or the ? at the top of the app and type a word such as "stop-loss". Each setting says what it does and when to change it, and "Show me" takes you to it. Help also searches these feature pages.

Is Relay2Trade support a chatbot?

No. People answer, as fast as they can. Write from the Support page of the app, where your recent app log is attached, or to support@relay2trade.com.

Can I run Relay2Trade on a VPS?

Yes. The Desk sets one up with you (see "Where the app runs"), and a Windows VPS you rent yourself works too: Windows 10 or 11, or Windows Server 2019 or newer, with 2 cores and 4 GB of memory. The guide "Running on a VPS" covers the setup step by step.
